Yalu

Remove an image

Effective October 24, 2026

The short version

  • If someone shared an intimate image of you without your consent on Yalu, real or AI-made, tell us where it is and we will remove it.
  • We remove it within 48 hours of receiving your request, along with identical copies we find.
  • You do not need a Yalu account, and the only thing we need is a way to find the image.
  • Please do not send us the image or a screenshot of it.

This summary is here to help you read the rest. It is not a substitute for it, and the full text below is what applies.

1. What this page is for

This page is for intimate images of an adult who can be identified, shared on Yalu without that person's consent. That includes images that were made or changed with AI or other tools to look like a real person.

If the person shown was under 18 when the image was taken or made, tell us that in the form (or in your email). We treat it as a child-safety case: we remove the image, preserve it as the law requires, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. You can also use NCMEC's Take It Down service at takeitdown.ncmec.org.

2. How to ask us to remove an image

  • The form below. It gives you a request number at once.
  • Email removal@yalu.co. Tell us where the image is. Please do not attach the image or a screenshot of it: we cannot accept image attachments, and we do not need them.

3. What helps us act quickly

Only the first item is required. The rest helps us act faster and write back to you.

  1. Where the image is: a username, a link to a profile or Circle, or a description of where you saw it.
  2. Whether the image is of you, or whether you act for the person shown.
  3. A statement that you believe in good faith that the image was shared without consent.
  4. Your name, which serves as your signature.
  5. An email address where we can reach you. Without one, we cannot send you your request number or tell you the outcome.

A username, a link to a profile or Circle, or a description of where you saw it.

Who is asking

Without an email address, we cannot send you your request number or tell you the outcome.

4. What happens next

  • You get a request number straight away, and by email if you gave an address. Keep it: it is how we find your request.
  • A person reviews every request. If it is about an intimate image shared without consent, we remove it within 48 hours of receiving your request, along with identical copies of it we find on Yalu.
  • If we need more information, we ask, and we keep working on your request in the meantime.
  • We write to you at least every 7 days until we decide, and then with our decision.
  • We keep the same file from being used again as a profile or Circle photo.

5. If you are in California

California law gives you a few extra rights when you report an image of yourself. We confirm your request in writing within 36 hours, by the method you chose, and tell you when to expect updates; we update you at least every 7 days; and we decide within 30 days. If something outside our control delays a decision, we decide within 60 days and tell you about the delay within 48 hours of knowing it. While we review a request about sexually explicit material of you, we may hide the image.

6. Using this form honestly

Please only ask about images of you, or of someone you are authorised to act for. We may decline a request that is not made in good faith.

7. What we keep from your request

We keep your name and contact details only to handle your request, and for a limited time after it is closed. We keep a basic record of the request itself, without them, for longer. Our Privacy Policy explains what we keep, who sees it and for how long.

8. Other help

  • StopNCII.org: helps stop intimate images of adults spreading to other platforms that take part.
  • Take It Down (NCMEC): the same for images of people under 18.
  • TakeItDown.ftc.gov: the Federal Trade Commission's site for complaints about platforms that do not act on removal requests.
